At present, it is almost impossible to think of a car without air conditioning (A/C). Especially when we live in warmer cities every day. This device has become one of the main tools in driving, as it provides us with fresh air during our transfers to work or home.
However, the least appreciated moment by many drivers is when the A/C is damaged. Spending long hours with the heat and humidity of the city can be detrimental, especially because it decreases the ability to concentrate and perceive obstacles. In the hot hot summer days are counted in the air conditioner of your car to make the air tolerable inside. So Automotive air conditioning has become an essential part ofour lives, let us know how it works.
How your car air conditioner works
The Air conditioning system in a car includes a cooler and a heater to adjust the temperature and humidity of the vehicle’s interior air to keep you comfortable all the time.
The compressor uses engine power to compress and circulate the refrigerant gas through the system. The refrigerant passes through the condenser (located in front of the radiator) on its way from the compressor outlet to the expansion valve. The refrigerant passes from the expansion valve to the evaporator (located inside the car) and, after passing through the evaporator piping, is returned to the compressor.
When The compressor comes into operation, it pulls refrigerant from the evaporator piping and pushes it into the condenser piping, decreasing the evaporator pressure and increasing the condenser. When the proper operating pressures are set, the expansion valve opens, allowing the refrigerant to return to the evaporator at the same speed as the compressor is removing it. Under these conditions, the pressure at each point of the system reaches a constant level, but the pressure of the capacitor will be much greater than the pressure of the evaporator.
Car’s AC Components
Any Automotive Air Conditioning system consists of 4 basic parts: A mechanical motor-driven compressor of the vehicle; An expansion valve which is a restriction to where the compressor pumps; and 2 heat exchangers; The evaporator and the condenser. In Addition, the refrigerant flowing through the system is required. Here’s what they do:
Auto A/C Compressor:The key to the proper functioning of this system is the compressor, which is in the heart of a/C. system car.The Compressor is the mechanism to vacuum the gas, compress it and put it in circulation through the circuits and other elements. Each system assembles a specific compressor according to the characteristics and capacity of the equipment. The internal mechanism of the compressors may vary according to brands but the result or objective is always the same
Auto A/C Condenser:The Condenser is a fundamental component in the air conditioning of our car because it is in charge of converting the vapor into liquid. The compressor sends the refrigerant vapor to the condenser at high temperatures, which will be cooled by the high pressure from the air that is blown into the condensation coils.
Auto A/C Evaporator:The air conditioner Evaporator of our car is a fundamental element for its correct functioning. This piece is in charge of making the air conditioner of our vehicle come to a cool and pleasant temperature, helping us to fight the heat when we need it most.
Thermal expansion valve:Theexpansion valve separates the high and low pressurezones in the cooling circuit. It is installed in front of theevaporator. To achieve optimum cooling performance in theevaporator, the coolant flow is regulated through the temperature dependent expansion valve. This ensures acomplete evaporation of the liquid refrigerant, so that onlythe gaseous refrigerant accesses the compressor. Expansionvalves can be distinguished from each other by design.
